Video Script -- Lesson 21
Number 20
Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our Maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number 20!
Look at this big number. This is 20. Can you say it with me? Twenty!
20 is called twenty. Say it again. Twenty! Very good!
Now look at the picture. We are in a pretty garden. There are trees, flowers and a paved path. On the path there are lots of gifts. Some have stars, some have hearts, some have dots and some have stripes, and every gift has a big ribbon bow. The gifts sit in four rows, and there are five gifts in each row.
Let us count them together. Touch each one with your finger. One! Two! Three! Four! Five! Six! Seven! Eight! Nine! Ten! Eleven! Twelve! Thirteen! Fourteen! Fifteen! Sixteen! Seventeen! Eighteen! Nineteen! Twenty! There are twenty! Clap your hands for twenty!
20 comes just after 19. First we say nineteen. Then we say twenty. Nineteen, twenty. One more than nineteen is twenty.
Here is a little game. Hold up your ten fingers. Now count them with me, one to ten. Now wiggle your ten toes. Ten fingers and ten toes make twenty. Let us count all the way. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty. Well done!
Now it is time to trace the number 20. Hold up your finger. Let us draw 20 in the air.
Start at the top. Draw a big curve. Slant down to the bottom line. Pause, and then draw a flat foot along the bottom. That is the number 2. Now for the 0. Draw a tall, narrow oval. That is the number 0. Together they make twenty!
Let us do it again, nice and slow. Curve round. Slant down. Flat foot. Tall oval. 20!
When you trace 20 in your book, always start at the dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
After tracing, you can colour the twenty gifts at the top of the page. Count them as you colour. You will also find some spiders, a maze and some dolls in your book. Have fun counting them!
Let us remember what we learned today. The number 20 is called twenty. We count twenty things like this: one, two, three, and all the way to twenty.
20 comes just after 19.
To make the number 20, we draw a big curve and a flat foot for the 2, then a tall, narrow oval for the 0.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep counting and keep saying twenty. See you next time! Bye-bye!
