Revision Objectives

• Recognise the number 19 and say its name "nineteen"
• Count 19 objects, touching each one once
• Say the number that comes just before 19
• Trace the number 19 with the correct stroke

Revision Activity 1: Count and Clap

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and count from 1 to 19 together, clapping on every number
• Stop on 19 and say "nineteen!" with a big clap
• Count again, whispering the numbers and then saying 19 loudly

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 70 or hold up number cards
• Say a number and learners point to it: 17, 18, 19
• Then swap: you point, learners say the number name
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Twinkle, Twinkle Counting

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up both hands and open and close them like twinkling stars
• Count the twinkles together up to nineteen
• Stop on nineteen and say "nineteen stars!"
• Ask: "What comes after nineteen?" (20)

Revision Activity 4: Block Tower

Time: 5 minutes

• Build a tower with nineteen blocks, counting each one aloud
• Ask: "How many blocks are in our tower?" Learners say "nineteen"
• Add one more and count again to twenty

Revision Activity 5: Air, Sand and Pencil Tracing

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big 19 in the air together: draw a straight line from the top down for the 1, then for the 9 start just below the top line, draw a rounded circle, and add a straight line down
• Let learners trace 19 with a finger on the big 19 on page 71
• Trace one dotted row of 19 on a fresh sheet with a pencil
• Check that every learner starts at the dot

Revision Activity 6: Before and After

Time: 3 minutes

• Hold up the number card 19
• Ask: "What comes just before 19?" (18)
• Ask: "What comes just after 19?" (20)
• Count together from 18 to 19, then on to 20

Key Points to Remember

• The number 19 is called "nineteen"
