Video Script -- Lesson 18
Number 17
Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our Maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number 17!
Look at this big number. This is 17. Can you say it with me? Seventeen!
17 is called seventeen. Say it again. Seventeen! Very good!
Now look at the picture. There is a bright racing road with a green park beside it. A happy crowd is cheering at the side. On the road there are lots of colourful cars with big friendly eyes. There are red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple and pink cars. The cars sit in four rows of four, and one more car is waiting at the front.
Let us count them together. Touch each one with your finger. One! Two! Three! Four! Five! Six! Seven! Eight! Nine! Ten! Eleven! Twelve! Thirteen! Fourteen! Fifteen! Sixteen! Seventeen! There are seventeen! Clap your hands for seventeen!
17 comes just after 16. First we say sixteen. Then we say seventeen. Sixteen, seventeen. One more than sixteen is seventeen.
Here is a little game. Pretend you are the driver of a race car. Brum, brum! Now count seventeen brums with me. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen. Well done!
Now it is time to trace the number 17. Hold up your finger. Let us draw 17 in the air.
Start at the top. Go straight down. That is the number 1. Now for the 7. Go across the top. Then quickly change direction and go down with a slant. That is the number 7. Together they make seventeen!
Let us do it again, nice and slow. Straight down. Across the top. Slant down. 17!
When you trace 17 in your book, always start at the dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
After tracing, you can colour the seventeen cars at the top of the page. Count them as you colour. You will also find some eggs, some crowns and some carrots in your book. Have fun counting them!
Let us remember what we learned today. The number 17 is called seventeen. We count seventeen things like this: one, two, three, and all the way to seventeen.
17 comes just after 16.
To make the number 17, we go straight down for the 1, then across the top and slant down for the 7.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep counting and keep saying seventeen. See you next time! Bye-bye!
