Video Script -- Lesson 16
Number 15
Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number fifteen!
Look at this big red number. This is fifteen. Can you say it with me? Fifteen!
Now look at the picture. What a sunny day! We are at a sparkling blue pond. There are grey rocks, green ferns and tall trees all around. And look who is swimming in the water. It is lots of fluffy yellow ducklings! How many ducklings can we count? Let us count them together. Touch each duckling with your finger.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen! There are fifteen ducklings. Say it with me. Fifteen ducklings! Wonderful!
Let us count them one more time, row by row. In the first three rows there are four ducklings each. In the last row there are three. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen! Fifteen ducklings!
Here is a fun trick. Fifteen is ten, and five more. Hold up ten fingers. Now put up five more. That is a whole hand! Ten and five more is fifteen!
Now let us try a timer. We will count along until it rings. Ready? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen! Ding! Well done!
Now it is time to trace the number fifteen. Hold up your finger. Let us draw fifteen in the air.
First we make number one. Start at the top and go straight down. Now for number five. Make a hat across the top. Then make a neck going down. Now draw a fat, round belly. That is the number fifteen!
Let us do it again. Straight down for one. A hat for five. A neck. A fat, round belly. Fifteen!
One more time, nice and slow. Down, hat, neck, belly. Well done!
When you trace fifteen in your book, always start at the dot. Follow the green arrows. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
After tracing, you can colour the fifteen ducklings at the top of your page. Count each one as you colour. One, two, three, all the way to fifteen.
On the next page there are some fun activities. First, look at the three little deer. Count the spots on each one and colour the deer that has fifteen spots. Next, look at the groups around the big number fifteen. Count each group and join the group that has fifteen. And last of all, there are lots of happy honeybees. Count them all and write the number in the box.
Let us remember what we learned today. This number is called fifteen. We count one, two, three, all the way up to fifteen.
There are fifteen ducklings in the pond.
To make the number fifteen, we go straight down for one, then make a hat, a neck and a round belly for five.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep counting to fifteen. See you next time! Bye-bye!
