Video Script -- Lesson 13
Number 12
Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number twelve!
Look at this big pink number. This is twelve. Can you say it with me? Twelve!
Now look at the picture. We are in a lovely garden. There are pink flowers and purple flowers, a wooden fence and a little watering can. And look! There are lots of busy bees flying about. How many bees can we count? Let us count them together. Touch each bee with your finger.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve! There are twelve bees. Say it with me. Twelve bees! Wonderful!
The bees are flying from flower to flower. Buzz, buzz, buzz! Can you buzz like a bee? Let us count them one more time. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve! Twelve bees!
Now, here is something fun. An egg box holds twelve eggs. Can you count the little cups with me? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve! Twelve cups. Great job!
Did you know a clock has the number twelve too? Look at the very top of the clock. That is the number twelve. Let us count round the clock. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve!
Now it is time to trace the number twelve. Hold up your finger. Let us draw twelve in the air.
First we make number one. Start at the top and go straight down. Now for number two. Start at the top and make a big curve. Come down to the bottom. Wait a little. Now go across to make the flat foot. That is the number twelve!
Let us do it again. Straight down for one. Curve at the top for two. Down to the bottom. Wait. Flat foot. Twelve!
One more time, nice and slow. Down, curve, wait, and across. Well done!
When you trace twelve in your book, always start at the dot. Follow the green arrows. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
After tracing, you can colour the twelve little bees at the top of your page. Count each one as you colour. One, two, three, all the way to twelve.
On the next page there are some fun activities. First, look at the baskets of guavas. Which basket has twelve guavas? Count them carefully and circle the right one. Next, look at the groups. Count each group and find the one that has twelve. Join it to the number twelve. And last of all, there is a friendly cow with empty spots on its back. Count the spots and colour twelve of them.
Let us remember what we learned today. This number is called twelve. We count one, two, three, all the way up to twelve.
There are twelve bees in the garden.
To make the number twelve, we go straight down for one, then curve, come down, wait, and add the flat foot for two.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep counting to twelve. See you next time! Bye-bye!
