Hello, little friends! Welcome to our Maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number eight!

Look at this big purple number. This is eight. Can you say it with me? Eight!

Now look at the picture. We are in a busy ice cream shop. A boy is at the counter and a kind lady is smiling at him. Look at all the ice creams in a row. Let us count them together. Touch each one as we count.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight! There are eight ice creams. Eight ice creams! Say it with me. Eight ice creams.

Look, every ice cream has its own flavour. There is strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, mint chip, mango sorbet, pistachio, blueberry and rocky road. Yum, yum! Which one would you like?

Let us count one more time, nice and slow. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Well done!

Here is a fun fact. A spider has eight legs. Let us count them. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Eight legs! Wiggle your eight fingers like a spider.

Now it is time to trace the number eight. Hold up your finger. Let us draw eight in the air.

Start at the top. Go round the top circle. Now keep going round the bottom circle. That is the number eight!

Let us do it again. Start at the top. Round the top. Round the bottom. Eight!

One more time, nice and slow. Round and round. Well done!

When you trace eight in your book, always start at the dot at the top. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time. Your teacher can show you how to make a letter S and close it into two little circles. That is how eight is made.

On the next pages, you can colour eight mangoes. You can trace and colour eight stars. And you can count the footballs and write the number in the box. Count them one by one. How many footballs are there? Eight!

Let us remember what we learned today. The number is eight. Eight ice creams. Eight stars. Eight mangoes. Eight footballs.
