Video Script -- Lesson 4

Number 3

Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford

Hello, little friends! Welcome to our maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number three!

Look at this big red number. This is three. Can you say it with me? Three!

Now look at the picture. We are in a cosy toy room. There are three dolls sitting side by side. One doll has curly brown hair and a flowery dress. One doll has yellow wool hair and a stripy dress. One doll has pink woolly hair and a rainbow jumper. Let us count them. One, two, three! Three dolls. Say it with me. Three dolls!

Look around the room. Can you see a teddy bear? Can you see a toy train? There are lots of books and little stars on the wall too.

Three means one, two, three. Did you know that an insect has a body with three parts? It has a head, a middle and a tail end. Count them with me. One, two, three!

Here is something else with three. A traffic light has three lights. Red, yellow, green. One, two, three! Three lights.

Now let us do some three actions. Clap, clap, clap. Three! Stamp, stamp, stamp. Three! Very good!

Now it is time to trace the number three. Hold up your finger. Let us draw three in the air.

Start at the top. Curve round to the middle. Stop for a moment. Then curve round again to the bottom. That is the number three!

Let us do it again. Curve round. Stop. Curve round again. Three!

One more time, nice and slow. Round, stop, and round again. Well done!

Your teacher says to make the second curve just like the first one. Two curves that match, like two little bumps.

When you trace three in your book, always start at the dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.

On the next page there are three dolls to colour. How many dolls will you colour? Three!

Then you will have some fun activities. Look at the plates of fruit. Some plates have two fruits and some have three. Circle the plates that have three fruits. Next, look at the pictures. There are three oranges, two carrots, a puppy and three little mice. Find the groups of three and join them to the number three. Then look at the turtles. How many turtles can you count? One, two, three! Three turtles.

Let us remember what we learned today. The number three is called three.

Three means one, two, three. A traffic light has three lights.

To make three, we curve round, stop, and curve round again.

You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying three, three, three. See you next time! Bye-bye!
