Video Script -- Lesson 3

Number 2

Subject: Maths | Class: Playgroup | Series: Skillford

Hello, little friends! Welcome to our maths lesson. Today we are going to meet a new number. It is the number two!

Look at this big pink number. This is two. Can you say it with me? Two!

Now look at the picture. There are two happy cows standing in a green meadow. One cow has pretty flowers on her head and around her neck. The other cow has a spotty scarf. Both cows are wearing a bell. How many cows can you see? One, two! Two cows. Say it with me. Two cows! Moo, moo!

Two means a pair. Let us find some twos on our own bodies. Point to your eyes. How many eyes do you have? Two! Touch your ears. How many ears? Two! Wave your hands. How many hands? Two! You are so clever.

Now let us do some two actions. Clap, clap. Two! Stamp, stamp. Two! Very good!

Here is a puzzle for you. Stand two blocks apart. Now lay a third block across the top. Two legs hold a bridge! Wonderful building!

Now it is time to trace the number two. Hold up your finger. Let us draw two in the air.

Start just under the top. Curve round to the right. Slide down to the bottom on the left. Then go straight across. That is the number two!

Let us do it again. Curve over. Slide down. Across. Two!

One more time, nice and slow. Over, down, and across. Well done!

Your teacher says to start just under the top line, so you have room for a big curve. And when you get to the bottom, stop for a moment before you go across to make the flat foot.

When you trace two in your book, always start at the dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.

On the next page there are two cows to colour. How many cows will you colour? Two!

Then you will have some fun activities. Look at the pots of flowers. Some pots have one flower and some have more. Colour the pots that have two flowers. Next, look at the pictures. There are two aeroplanes, a football, a peach and two onions. Find the groups of two and join them to the number two. Then look at the monkey. Count his eyes, his ears and his hands. How many of each? Two!

Let us remember what we learned today. The number two is called two.

Two means a pair. We have two eyes, two ears and two hands.

To make two, we curve over the top, slide down, and go across.

You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying two, two, two. See you next time! Bye-bye!
