Video Script -- Lesson 45
Compound Words
Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford
Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn about compound words.
Listen carefully. If we join two small words together, we get one new word. That new word is called a compound word.
Look at this example. Here is a tooth. Here is a brush. Tooth plus brush makes toothbrush. We brush our teeth with a toothbrush. Say it with me: toothbrush!
Now let us join some more words. Jelly and fish. Jelly plus fish makes jellyfish. Very good!
Sun and flower. Sun plus flower makes sunflower. Rain and bow. Rain plus bow makes rainbow. And last, butter and fly. Butter plus fly makes butterfly.
Let us quickly go over what we learned today. A compound word is two small words stuck together to make one new word. Jellyfish, sunflower, rainbow and butterfly are all compound words.
Great job, everyone! Can you think of another compound word? See you next time!
