Revision Activity 1: Name It Game

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up an object and say "This is a ..."
• Children say the next sentence: "The ... is ..."

Revision Activity 2: Partner Talk

Time: 10 minutes

• Children sit in pairs and take turns using pairs of sentences from the book:
  • "This is a jug. The jug is large."
  • "That is a tortoise. The tortoise is small."
  • "This is an apple. The apple is red."
  • "That is an eagle. The eagle is brown."
• Switch partners and repeat

Revision Activity 3: The Missing Word

Time: 10 minutes

• Read the page 66 pairs with a blank. Children call out "the":
  • This is a balloon. ___ balloon is green.
  • That is a snake. ___ snake is long.
  • This is a rose. ___ rose is red.
  • That is a sheep. ___ sheep is white.

Key Points to Remember

• Once you have named a thing, say "the" in front of it the next time
• The first sentence names the thing: "This is a jug."
• The second sentence uses "the": "The jug is large."
