• Task: Teacher asks "Where is the bird?" and "When does Ali go to school?" Children say whether each question asks about a place or a time.
• Criteria:
  • Says "place" for "where"
  • Says "time" for "when"
• Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

2. Where or When (During Day 1)

• Task: Say "___ are the children?" and "___ does Ali go to school?" Children say the missing word.
• Criteria: Correct word each time
• Rating: All correct / Most correct / Needs support

3. Activity Time (During Day 1)

• Task: Children write their own answers to the two questions on page 64
• Criteria: Each answer is a place (for "where") or a time (for "when")
• Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice
