Video Script -- Lesson 39
Use of "They/Their" and "We/Our"
Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford
Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn how to use "they", "their", "we" and "our".
We use "they" for a group of people or things. "Their" shows that something belongs to that group. We use "we" when we are one of the group ourselves. "Our" shows that something belongs to the group we are in.
Look at the first picture in your book. Two boys are sitting at a table with their teacher. They are boys. These are their books. We are talking about the boys, but we are not one of them, so we say "they" and "their".
Look at the second picture. A brother and sister are standing with their bicycles. We are brother and sister. These are our bicycles. Here the brother and sister are talking about themselves, so they say "we" and "our".
Now it is your turn. Look at the football players. They are players. These are their footballs. Look at the children playing badminton. They are playing badminton. These are their rackets.
Let us quickly go over what we learned today. "They" and "their" are for a group we are talking about. "We" and "our" are for a group that includes us.
Great job, everyone! Stand with your friends and say "We are ..." and "These are our ..." See you next time!
