Daily Lesson Plan -- Lesson 38
Use of "He/His" and "She/Her"
Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford
Overview
In this lesson children learn to use "he", "his", "she" and "her". We use "he" for a boy or a man and "she" for a girl or a woman. Something that belongs to him is "his", and something that belongs to her is "her". Children read picture sentences and then write the correct words on pairs of lines.
Learning Objectives
- Use "he" for a boy or a man and "she" for a girl or a woman
- Use "his" for something that belongs to him and "her" for something that belongs to her
- Read sentences such as "He is Ali. This is his camera."
- Write "He" and "his", or "She" and "her", on each pair of lines
Day 1: He, His, She and Her (35 minutes)
Materials
- Textbook page 59, four cards: "He", "His", "She", "Her"
Warm-Up (5 minutes)
- Point to a boy in the class and say "He is a boy." Point to a girl and say "She is a girl." Children repeat.
Main Activity (20 minutes)
- Read the rule: "Use 'He' for a boy or a man, and 'She' for a girl or a woman. Something that belongs to him is 'his', and something that belongs to her is 'her'."
- Read the sentences on page 59. Children repeat:
- He is a boy. His name is Raza.
- She is a girl. Her name is Saima.
- He is Ali. This is his camera.
- She is Zainab. This is her racket.
- He is Saleem. This is his dog.
- She is Nazia. This is her cat.
- He is my uncle. This is his umbrella.
- She is my aunt. This is her purse.
- Show that a boy or a man goes with "he" and "his", and a girl or a woman goes with "she" and "her"
- Teacher's Note activity: use classroom objects and children's examples. Point to a boy's pencil and say "He is [name]. This is his pencil." Point to a girl's bag and say "She is [name]. This is her bag."
Wrap-Up (10 minutes)
- Hold up the cards "He", "His", "She" or "Her". Children say a sentence using that word.
