Video Script -- Lesson 35
Use of "These" and "Those"
Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford
Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn how to use "these" and "those".
Last time we learned "this" and "that" for one thing. Today we talk about more than one thing. When two or more things are near us, we say "these". Hold two pencils close to you and say "These are pencils." Very good! When two or more things are far away from us, we say "those". Point to some books far away and say "Those are books." Well done!
We use "these" to refer to more than one thing that is near the speaker. We use "those" to refer to more than one thing that is far away from the speaker.
Let us read some sentences together. These are crayons. The crayons are close to us, so we say "these". Those are parrots. The parrots are far away, so we say "those".
These are quails. Those are apples. These are ice creams. Those are giraffes. These are toys. Those are huts. Did you notice something? The groups that are near use "these", and the groups that are far away use "those".
Now it is your turn. Look at the pictures and say the sentences. These are tigers. Those are turtles. These are kites. Those are planets. These are oranges. Those are flowers. These are unicycles. Those are jeeps. These are yarns. Those are goats.
Let us quickly go over what we learned today. We use "these" for more than one thing that is near. We use "those" for more than one thing that is far away. Point close for "these" and point far for "those".
Great job, everyone! Look around your classroom and say "These are ..." and "Those are ..." with your friends. See you next time!
