Revision Activity 1: Near and Far Game

Time: 5 minutes

• Say "This" or "That"
• Children point close to themselves for "this" and far away for "that"

Revision Activity 2: Partner Talk

Time: 10 minutes

• Children sit in pairs and take turns using sentences from the book:
  • "This is a cat." / "That is a duck."
  • "This is an egg." / "That is a truck."
  • "This is an ant." / "That is a tree."
  • "This is a camel." / "That is an eagle."
• Switch partners and repeat

Revision Activity 3: This or That

Time: 10 minutes

• Read the page 54 sentences with a blank. Children call out "this" or "that":
  • ___ is a whale. (this)
  • ___ is an elephant. (that)
  • ___ is a capsicum. (this)
  • ___ is an onion. (that)

Key Points to Remember

• We use "this" to refer to something that is near the speaker
• We use "that" to refer to something that is far away from the speaker
• "This is a cat." The cat is near.
• "That is a duck." The duck is far away.
