Video Script -- Lesson 31
Action Words
Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford
Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn about action words.
An action word, or verb, is a word for something being done. When we run, jump or sing, we are doing an action. Let us jump together. What are we doing? We are jumping! Jumping is an action word.
Look at each picture and read its action word. Walking. A boy is walking. Playing. A girl is playing with a ball. Jumping. A boy is jumping.
Reading. A girl is reading a book. Listening. A boy is listening to music. Brushing. A girl is brushing her teeth.
Writing. A boy is writing at a desk. Knitting. A grandmother is knitting. Drinking. A boy is drinking water.
Now stand up and act out each word. Walking. Jumping. Reading. Drinking. Very good!
Now it is time for the activity. Write the action word for each picture. Here is the word bank. Flying. Painting. Drinking. Brushing. Reading. Listening. Drawing. Playing. Jumping.
Look at the first picture. A boy is drawing. Next, a boy is jumping. Then, a boy is drinking. Now, a boy is painting. A boy is brushing his teeth. A girl is playing with a ball. A boy is flying in a plane. A boy is reading. And a boy is listening to music. Well done!
Let us quickly go over what we learned today. An action word is a word for something being done.
Great job, everyone! Act out your favourite action word for a friend. See you next time!
