Revision Activity 1: Act It Out

Time: 5 minutes

• Teacher says an action word: walking, jumping, reading, drinking, writing
• Children act it out

Revision Activity 2: Guess the Action

Time: 10 minutes

• Children sit in pairs. One child acts out a word from the book and the partner says it:
  • playing, listening, brushing, knitting, drawing, painting, flying
• Switch partners and repeat

Revision Activity 3: Name the Picture

Time: 10 minutes

• Show the pictures on page 50 one at a time. Children call out the action word:
  • drawing
  • jumping
  • painting
  • flying

Key Points to Remember

• An action word, or verb, is a word for something being done
• Action words on the page: walking, playing, jumping, reading, listening, brushing, writing, knitting, drinking
• Ask "What is he doing?" or "What is she doing?"
• Act the word out to remember it
