Naming Words

Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Skillford

Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn about naming words.

A naming word, or noun, is the name of a person, animal, place or thing. Let me ask you some questions. What is your name? Are you a boy or a girl? Where do you live? What is your favourite animal? Every answer you give is a naming word!

Let us look at the page. Here is Ali. Ali is a person. Here is a lion. Lion is an animal. Here is a fan. Fan is a thing. And here is Lahore. Lahore is a place.

Person, animal, place, thing. Say them with me. Can you think of one more person? One more animal? One more place? One more thing? Very good!

Now it is time for the activity. Say the name of each picture, choose it from the word bank, and write it on the lines. Here is the word bank. Camel. Lahore. Apple. Raza.

Look at the first picture. It is a boy. His name is Raza. Next, a building. This is Lahore. Then an animal with a hump. It is a camel. And last, a red fruit. It is an apple. Well done!

Let us quickly go over what we learned today. A naming word is the name of a person, an animal, a place or a thing.

Great job, everyone! Look around you and name the people, animals, places and things you see. See you next time!
