Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn the short sound "o".

Open your mouth wide and round. The short sound "o" comes out fast. O, o, o. Say it with me. Very good!

We say each sound, and then we push the sounds together into one word. Let us try the first family. O, d. Od. C, od. Cod. N, od. Nod. P, od. Pod. R, od. Rod. Well done!

Now the next family. Og. D, og. Dog. F, og. Fog. J, og. Jog. L, og. Log. Great!

The next family is ot. C, ot. Cot. D, ot. Dot. H, ot. Hot. P, ot. Pot. Very good!

And the last family is ox. B, ox. Box. F, ox. Fox. L, ox. Lox. P, ox. Pox. Excellent!

Now let us read some sentences. A dog is on the log. Bob has an ox. A dot is on the pot. A fox is on the box. Good reading!

Here is a tongue twister to try. The fox jumps onto the box. Say it slowly first, then a little faster. Can you hear the short "o" in fox and box?

Now it is Activity Time. Look at the fish. Circle the letters that spell the word, and then write it. The letters are c, h, o, d. We circle c, o, d. It spells cod. Next, a boy is jogging. The letters are j, a, o, g. We circle j, o, g. It spells jog. Then there is a red dot. The letters are d, o, t, p. We circle d, o, t. It spells dot. And the last picture shows a girl with red spots. The letters are p, x, o, f. We circle p, o, x. It spells pox.

Now follow each path and write the word at the end. The signs say fox, log, box and mop. Put your finger on a sign and follow the path down to the picture. Write the word in the box. Well done!

Here is a fun idea. Roll a ball down a plank propped on one box. Then try it again on two boxes. When is the ball faster?
