Revision Objectives

• Remember the short "o" sound
• Read the word families od, og, ot and ox
• Spell picture words with short "o"

Revision Activity 1: Wide and Round

Time: 5 minutes

• Open your mouth wide and round and say the short "o" sound
• Say a word, such as "dog". Children say it back and point at the "o".

Revision Activity 2: Tongue Twister

Time: 10 minutes

• Say the tongue twister slowly: "The fox jumps onto the box"
• Children say it back, a little faster each time, holding the short "o" in "fox" and "box"

Revision Activity 3: Spell the Picture

Time: 10 minutes

• Show a picture of a dog, a pot or a log
• Children say the word sound by sound and write the three letters
• Read the four sentences at the foot of page 14 together

• Your mouth opens wide and round, and the short "o" comes out fast
• Say each sound, then push them together into one word
• Word families: od, og, ot, ox
• Example words: rod, dog, hot, box
