Revision Objectives

• Remember the short "i" sound
• Read the word families id, ig, in and it
• Pick out words with the short "i" sound

Revision Activity 1: Quick Lips

Time: 5 minutes

• Pull your lips back a little and say the short "i" sound
• Say a word, such as "pin". Children say it back and point at the "i".

Revision Activity 2: Change the Letter

Time: 10 minutes

• Give each pair letter blocks
• Spell "sit", swap the "s" for an "f" to read "fit", and keep going
• Try the families in and ig as well

Revision Activity 3: Rhyme Time

Time: 10 minutes

• Say a word such as "fig". Children think of a word that rhymes with it.
• Do the same with "bin" and "lid"
• Read the four sentences at the foot of page 12 together

• Say each sound, then push them together into one word
