Revision Activity 1: Egg Sound

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the short "e" as it sounds in "egg"
• Say a word, such as "hen". Children say it back and point at the "e".

Revision Activity 2: Sort the Piles

Time: 10 minutes

• Give each group flash cards for the four families: -ed, -eg, -en and -et
• Children sort the cards into piles and read each pile aloud

Revision Activity 3: Read and Match

Time: 10 minutes

• Show the pictures of a pen, a bed and a net
• Children find the matching word on page 10 and say it
• Read the four sentences at the foot of page 10 together

• Your mouth opens a little and the short "e" comes out quickly
• Say each sound, then push them together into one word
