Revision Activity 1: Wide Mouth

Time: 5 minutes

• Open your mouth wide and say the short "a" sound
• Say a word, such as "cat". Children say it back and point at the "a".

Revision Activity 2: Word Family Build

Time: 10 minutes

• Give each pair letter blocks
• Build "cat", then swap the "c" for a "b" to make "bat" and read every new word
• Try the families an and am as well

Revision Activity 3: Read and Match

Time: 10 minutes

• Hold up picture cards for "mat", "cat" and "fan"
• Children say each word and point to the matching word on page 8
• Read the four sentences at the foot of page 8 together
