Revision Objectives

• Remember that a CVC word has three sounds: consonant, vowel, consonant
• Say a CVC word one sound at a time and blend it
• Write the three letters of a picture word

Revision Activity 1: Tap the Sounds

Time: 5 minutes

• Say a word slowly: hat, fan, mug, jet, fig, dog
• Children tap once for each sound, then say the whole word

Revision Activity 2: Block Tower

Time: 10 minutes

• Give each pair three blocks
• Say "cat". Children stack three blocks, one for each sound.
• Knock off the first block and say what is left
• Repeat with fan, mug and dog

Revision Activity 3: Three Circles

Time: 10 minutes

• Draw three circles on the board for each word
• Say a word slowly. Children say the three sounds and write one letter in each circle.
• Use cat, hen, bun and fig

• Example: h (consonant), a (vowel), t (consonant) makes "hat"
