Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter Z! Z is the very last letter of the alphabet.

Look at these two letters. This is big Z. And this is small z. They are the same letter. One is big and one is small.

The letter Z makes a buzzy sound, like a busy bee. It says z, z, z. Buzz with me. z, z, z. Very good!

Now look at the big picture. Who is this, with black and white stripes? It is a zebra! Say zebra. Zebra! Zebra starts with z.

Look at the path the zebra is walking on. It goes this way, then that way, this way, then that way. That is a zigzag! Say zigzag. Zigzag!

And what is this big blue thing? It is a giant zip! We use a zip to close our coats and bags. Say zip. Zip!

Listen. The zebra is walking in a zigzag near the zip. Say it with me. The zebra is walking in a zigzag near the zip. Wonderful!

Here are some more pictures. This is a big red zero. Zero means nothing at all. Say zero. Zero! And this is a zoo, with a monkey, an elephant and a giraffe. Say zoo. Zoo!

Let us say all our z words together. Zero. Zoo. Zebra. Zigzag. Zip. Great job!

Now listen carefully. Is it a z word? Zip. Yes! Crocodile. No, crocodile starts with c. Yak. No, yak starts with y. Zigzag. Yes! You are so clever.

Now it is time to write the letter Z. Hold up your finger. We always make the capital letter first.

Start at the top on this side. Go across. Now slant down to the bottom. Now go across again. Across, slant, across. That is big Z!

Now small z. It is the same shape, but little. Across, slant, across. That is small z!

Let us do it again. Big Z. Across, slant, across. Small z. Across, slant, across. Well done!

When you trace in your book, always start with big Z, then small z. Go slowly and carefully. After tracing, you can colour the zebra's stripes at the top of the page.
