Exercise A: Circle the Letter
Say "big X" and "small x" with your child. Ask your child to circle every X and x in the rows below.

Exercise B: Look and Say
Point to each picture in the textbook (page 65). Say the word first. Your child says it after you. Tick the box when your child says it.

Exercise C: Match the Word to the Picture
Say each word aloud. Your child draws a line from the word to the correct picture.

Exercise D: Write X at the Start
Say each word. Your child writes a capital X in the box.

Exercise E: Colour the Xylophone
Draw a xylophone with six bars in the box. Your child colours each bar a different colour, then counts the bars.

Ask: "What is this?" Your child says "xylophone".
Exercise F: Trace the Letters
Your child traces the capital letter first, then the small letter. Slant down one way, then slant down the other way so the lines cross.

Exercise G: Say the Sentence
Say the sentence to your child. Your child repeats it.
"The xylophone is placed on the deck of the xebec."
Now ask:
- What is on the deck? (the xylophone)
- What is a xebec? (an old sailing ship)
