Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter V!

Look at these two letters. This is big V. And this is small v. They are the same letter. One is big and one is small.

The letter V makes a buzzy sound. It says v, v, v. Put your top teeth gently on your bottom lip and buzz. v, v, v. Can you feel your lip tickle? Very good!

Now look at the big picture. We are in a garden. Who is this? It is a vulture! Say vulture. Vulture! Vulture starts with v.

The vulture is holding a watering can. And here is a pretty vase full of flowers. Say vase. Vase! Vase starts with v too.

Listen to this. The vulture is watering the flowers in the vase. Say it with me. The vulture is watering the flowers in the vase. Wonderful!

Here are some more pictures. This is a van. It is orange and white. Say van. Van! And this is a vest. It is bright yellow. Say vest. Vest!

Let us say all our v words together. Van. Vest. Vulture. Vase. Great job!

Now listen carefully. I will say some words. Is it a v word? Vase. Yes! Van. Yes! Umbrella. No, umbrella does not start with v. Violin. Yes! Violin starts with v. You are so clever.

Now it is time to write the letter V. Hold up your finger. We always make the capital letter first.

Start at the top. Slant down to the bottom. Now slant back up to the top. That is big V!

Now small v. It is the same shape, but little. Start at the top. Slant down. Slant back up. That is small v!

Let us do it again. Big V. Down, up. Small v. Down, up. Well done!

When you trace in your book, always start with big V, then small v. Go slowly and carefully. After tracing, you can colour the van at the top of the page.
