Video Script -- Lesson 21
Letter Uu
Subject: English | Class: Nursery | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter U!
Look at these two letters. This is big U, the capital letter. And this is small u. Can you say it with me? U!
The letter u makes a sound. It says u, u, u, like in up. Point your finger up and say it with me. U, u, up! Very good!
Now look at the big picture. We are at a cricket match. There is a man in a white hat and a white shirt. He is the umpire. The umpire watches the game and makes sure everyone plays fairly. Say umpire. Umpire! Umpire starts with u.
What is the umpire holding? A big blue umbrella! It keeps the hot sun off his head. Say umbrella. Umbrella! Umbrella starts with u too.
Listen. The umpire is under an umbrella. Say it with me. The umpire is under an umbrella. Wonderful!
Now let us look at two more pictures. Here is a little girl. Where is she? She is under the table. Say under. Under! Can you crouch down low, like you are under a table?
And here is a green arrow. Which way is it pointing? Up! Say up. Up! Now stretch your arms up high.
Let us say all our u words together. Umpire. Umbrella. Under. Up. Great job! Can you tell me three of them? Well done!
Now it is time to write Uu. We always write the capital letter first, then the small letter. Hold up your finger and let us draw big U in the air.
Start at the top. Go straight down. Curve round the bottom, like a cup. Now go back up to the top. That is big U!
Now small u. Start at the middle. Go down, curve round the bottom, and go back up. Now go straight down the side. That is small u!
Let us do it again. Big U, down, round and up. Small u, down, round, up, and down. Lovely!
In your book, trace big U and small u along the dotted lines. Then try to write Uu all by yourself. Go slowly and carefully.
Now look at four pictures. Soap, an umbrella, a panda and an umpire. Which ones begin with u? Soap, no. Umbrella, yes! Panda, no. Umpire, yes! Circle the umbrella and the umpire.
When you finish, you can colour the umbrella at the top of the page. Make it as bright as a rainbow!
Let us remember what we learned today. The letter u says u, u, u, like in up.
Umpire starts with u. Umbrella, under and up start with u too.
The umpire is under an umbrella.
To make big U, we go down, round and up. To make small u, we go down, round, up, and then down the side.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying u, u, up. See you next time! Bye-bye!
