Revision Objectives

• Recognise the capital "S" and the small "s" and say the sound /s/
• Recall the words spider, sparrow, socks, soap and sofa
• Repeat the sentence "The spider and the sparrow are sitting on the socks."
• Trace and write "Ss", capital first, then small

Revision Activity 1: Snake Hiss

Time: 4 minutes

• Learners lie on the mat and wriggle like snakes
• Hiss /sss/ together as you wriggle
• Stop, and each learner says one /s/ word from page 52

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Hold up picture cards or open page 52
• Say a word and learners point to it: spider, sparrow, socks, soap, sofa
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Sock Sentence

Time: 5 minutes

• Put a pair of socks in the middle of the circle
• Choose one learner to be the spider and one to be the sparrow; they sit next to the socks
• The class says "The spider and the sparrow are sitting on the socks."
• Swap the spider and sparrow and say it again

Revision Activity 4: Snowman Build

Time: 5 minutes

• Give out playdough and make three balls: big, middle and small
• Stack them into a snowman
• Learners tell a friend: "I made a snowman. Snowman starts with /s/."

Revision Activity 5: Air, Sand and Pencil Writing

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw "S" in the air together: start at the top right, curve left, swing right, curve to the bottom
• Draw a smaller "s" the same way
• Make "Ss" in a sand tray with a finger
• Write one row of "Ss" on a fresh sheet, capital first, then small

Revision Activity 6: Hiss or Hush

Time: 3 minutes

• Say a word: snail, rose, spider, tiger, sun, soap
• Learners hiss /s/ for an /s/ word and put a finger on their lips for any other word
