Video Script -- Lesson 15
Letter Oo
Subject: English | Class: Nursery | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter O!
Look at this big letter. This is capital O. And this little yellow one is small o. They are both round, like a ball. Can you say it with me? O!
The letter O makes a sound. Make your mouth round and say o, o, o. Like in octopus. Say it with me. o, o, o. Very good!
Now look at the picture. We are in a kitchen. There is a big purple octopus wearing a white chef's hat. Can you say octopus? Octopus! Octopus starts with o. o, o, octopus.
What is the octopus doing? It is holding a knife and chopping an onion on a wooden board. Say onion. Onion! Onion starts with the letter O too.
Listen to this. An octopus is chopping an onion. Say it with me, and chop, chop, chop with your hands. An octopus is chopping an onion. Wonderful!
Now let us look at two more pictures. These words also begin with the letter o.
Here is an orange. It is a round fruit and it smells lovely. Say orange. Orange!
And here is an ox. An ox is a big, strong animal with horns. Say ox. Ox!
Let us say all our o words together. Octopus. Onion. Orange. Ox. Great job!
An octopus has lots of arms. Let us count them. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Eight arms! If two arms hide, how many are left? Six! You are so clever.
Can you find some more o pictures? Here is an orange, an apple, an octopus and a strawberry. Which ones start with o? Orange starts with o. Apple does not. Octopus starts with o. Strawberry does not. Well done!
Now it is time to write the letter O. Hold up your finger. We always make the capital letter first.
Start at the top. Curve round to the left, all the way down and round, and back up to the top. That is capital O!
Now the small o. It is the same, but little. Start at the middle line, curve round to the left, all the way round and back to the start. That is small o!
Let us do it again. Big round O. Little round o. Lovely!
When you trace O in your book, make the capital O first and then the small o. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
After writing, you can colour the orange at the top of your page.
Let us remember what we learned today. The letter O says o, o, o.
Octopus starts with o. Orange starts with o. Ox starts with o. And onion starts with the letter O too.
An octopus is chopping an onion.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying o, o, o. See you next time! Bye-bye!
