Letter Kk

Subject: English | Class: Nursery | Series: Skillford

Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter K!

Look at these two letters. The big white one is capital K. The small yellow one is small k. Can you say it with me? K!

The letter k makes a short, sharp sound. It says k, k, k. Say it with me. k, k, k. Very good!

Now look at the big picture. Who is this? He has a big golden crown on his head. He is a king! Say king. King! King starts with k. k, k, king.

The king is holding something big and shiny. It is a golden key. Say key. Key!

On the table there is a kettle. Can you see the steam coming out of it? Say kettle. Kettle!

Listen to this sentence. The king holds a golden key while watching steam rise from the kettle. Say it with me. The king holds a golden key. While watching steam rise from the kettle. Wonderful!

Now let us look at two more pictures. These words also begin with k.

Here is a kiwi. It is a fruit. It is brown and fuzzy on the outside, and green inside with tiny black seeds. Say kiwi. Kiwi!

And here is a kangaroo. A kangaroo hops and hops. Look, there is a baby kangaroo in its pouch! Say kangaroo. Kangaroo!

Let us say all our k words together. Kiwi. Kangaroo. King. Key. Kettle. Great job!

Now it is time to write the letter K. Hold up your finger. Let us draw capital K in the air.

Start at the top. Go straight down. Now go back up to the top, on the right. Slant in to the middle. Then slant out to the bottom. That is capital K!

Now small k. Start at the top and go straight down, tall like capital K. Now start in the middle, slant in, and slant out to the bottom. That is small k.

Let us do it again. Capital K first: down, slant in, slant out. Then small k: tall line down, small slant in, slant out. Well done!

In your book, always write the capital letter first, then the small letter.

We can hear k at the end of words too. Listen. Duc, k. Duck! Loc, k. Lock! Nec, k. Neck! In your book, you can write k at the end of each word.

At the top of your page there is a kangaroo. You can colour it brown. Then you can hop like a kangaroo!

Let us remember what we learned today. The letter k says k, k, k.

Kiwi, kangaroo, king, key and kettle all start with k.

The king holds a golden key while watching steam rise from the kettle.

Capital K goes down, then slants in and out. Small k is tall, then slants in and out.

You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying k, k, k. See you next time! Bye-bye!
