Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter J!

Look at these two letters. The big white one is capital J. The small yellow one is small j. Can you say it with me? J!

The letter j makes a sound. It says j, j, j. Say it with me. j, j, j. Very good! Can you jump each time you say it? j, jump! j, jump!

Now look at the big picture. There is a green car with big wheels. It is a jeep. Say jeep. Jeep! Jeep starts with j. j, j, jeep.

A girl is sitting in the jeep. She is wearing a brown jacket. Say jacket. Jacket!

On the front of the jeep there is a glass jug. Say jug. Jug! The jug is full of juice. Say juice. Juice!

Listen to this sentence. The girl wearing a jacket placed a jug full of juice on the jeep. Say it with me. The girl wearing a jacket. Placed a jug full of juice on the jeep. Wonderful!

Now let us look at two more pictures. These words also begin with j.

Here is a jet. It flies very fast in the sky. Whoosh! Say jet. Jet!

And here is a joker. He has bright rainbow hair and a big red nose. He makes us laugh. Say joker. Joker!

Let us say all our j words together. Jet. Joker. Jacket. Jug. Juice. Jeep. Great job!

Now it is time to write the letter J. Hold up your finger. Let us draw capital J in the air.

Start at the top and draw a short line across. Now go down from the middle, and at the bottom curve round to the left. That is capital J!

Now small j. Start in the middle. Go down, down, below the line, and curve round to the left. Now lift your finger and put a dot on top. That is small j.

Let us do it again. Capital J first: across, down and curve. Then small j: down below the line, curve, and a dot. Well done!

In your book, always write the capital letter first, then the small letter. The tail of small j goes below the line.

Now let us play a listening game. I will say four words. Which one starts with j? Ice cream. Hut. Ball. Jeep. Yes! Jeep starts with j. In your book, you can draw a circle round the jeep.

At the top of your page there is a big jug. You can colour it in and think of juice inside. That will look lovely!

Let us remember what we learned today. The letter j says j, j, j.

Jet, joker, jacket, jug, juice and jeep all start with j.
