Video Script -- Lesson 9
Letter Ii
Subject: English | Class: Nursery | Series: Skillford
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter I!
Look at these two letters. The big white one is capital I. The small yellow one is small i. Can you say it with me? I!
The letter i makes a short sound. It says i, i, i. Say it with me. i, i, i. Very good!
Now look at the big picture. It is very cold and snowy. Can you see a house made of ice? That is an igloo. Say igloo. Igloo! Igloo starts with i. i, i, igloo.
Who is sitting in front of the igloo? It is a green iguana! The iguana is wearing a warm woolly hat and little round glasses. Say iguana. Iguana!
On the table there is a small pot of blue ink. It is an inkpot. Say inkpot. Inkpot! The iguana is holding a pen.
Listen to this sentence. An iguana lives in the igloo and uses an inkpot to fill the pen. Say it with me. An iguana lives in the igloo. And uses an inkpot to fill the pen. Wonderful!
Now let us look at two more pictures. These words also begin with i.
Here is a little green insect with long legs. Say insect. Insect!
And here is an injection. A doctor or a nurse gives us an injection to help keep us well. Say injection. Injection!
Let us say all our i words together. Insect. Injection. Iguana. Igloo. Inkpot. Great job!
Now it is time to write the letter I. Hold up your finger. Let us draw capital I in the air.
Start at the top. Go straight down. Now draw a short line across the top, and a short line across the bottom. That is capital I!
Now small i. Start in the middle. Go straight down, with a tiny flick at the bottom. Now lift your finger and put a dot on top. Do not forget the dot! That is small i.
Let us do it again. Capital I first: down, across the top, across the bottom. Then small i: down, and a dot. Well done!
In your book, always write the capital letter first, then the small letter. Go slowly and carefully.
Next, we can find the i sound in little words. If we put i between p and n, we get pin. Between b and n, we get bin. Between l and p, we get lip. Can you hear the i in the middle? Pin. Bin. Lip.
At the top of your page there is a ladybird. A ladybird is an insect. You can colour it red with black spots. That will look beautiful!
Let us remember what we learned today. The letter i says i, i, i.
Insect, injection, iguana, igloo and inkpot all start with i.
An iguana lives in the igloo and uses an inkpot to fill the pen.
Capital I goes down, then across the top and the bottom. Small i goes down and has a dot.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying i, i, i. See you next time! Bye-bye!
