Revision Objectives

• Recognise capital "H" and small "h" and say the sound /h/
• Recall the words hen, horse, helicopter, hut, hat and hand
• Repeat the sentence "The hen and the horse want to ride the helicopter."
• Trace and write "Hh", capital first, then small
• Revise the letters Ee, Ff, Gg and Hh together using the Let's Practise and Blend to Read pages (textbook pages 23-25)

Revision Activity 1: Helicopter Ride

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners spin their arms like helicopter blades
• When you say "Land!", they stop and say "helicopter, /h/"
• Then say the sentence together: "The hen and the horse want to ride the helicopter."

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 21 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: hen, horse, helicopter, hut, hat
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Air and Pencil Tracing

Time: 6 minutes

• Draw a big "H" in the air together: down, down, across the middle
• Draw a small "h" in the air: tall line down, back up, over the hill and down
• Trace one row of dotted "Hh" on a fresh sheet, capital first, then small

Revision Activity 4: Let's Practise (page 23)

Time: 8 minutes

• "Circle the pictures that begin with each letter." Say every picture in the row and circle the ones that match the letter:
  • E: engine, envelope (not the cap)
  • F: frog, fan (not the gift)
  • G: guava, grapes (not the football)
  • H: hat, helicopter (not the egg)
• "Say each word aloud, then circle the picture it names." Read each word to the learners:
  • Engine: circle the engine
  • Fish: circle the fish
  • Hut: circle the hut

Time: 8 minutes

• "Say each picture aloud and circle the letter it starts with."
  • egg: Ee
  • grapes: Gg
  • hen: Hh
  • fish: Ff
  • fox: Ff

• "Write the capital letter that each picture starts with."
  • flag: F
  • goat: G
  • elephant: E

Revision Activity 6: Blend to Read (page 25)

Time: 8 minutes

• "Say each sound on its own, then blend them together to read the word."
• Model the first one, which is done in the book: /r/ /e/ /d/, red
• Blend each word with the learners, pointing to the picture:
  • ed: red, bed, fed
  • en: hen, pen, ten
  • et: jet, wet, pet
  • eg: beg, peg, leg
• Learners who are ready write the word on the line; others say it aloud
