Hello, little friends! Welcome back to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter D!

Look at the two letters. This one is big D. This one is small d. Big D and small d are the same letter. Can you say it with me? D!

The letter D makes a sound. Tap your tongue just behind your top teeth. d, d, d. It sounds like a drum! d, d, d. Very good!

Now look at the big picture. There is a white duck holding two drumsticks. Say duck. Duck! Duck starts with d. d, d, duck.

Next to the duck there is a happy golden dog. Say dog. Dog! d, d, dog.

What are they playing? A big red and white drum! Say drum. Drum! d, d, drum.

Listen to our sentence. The duck and the dog are playing the drum together. Say it with me. The duck and the dog are playing the drum together. Wonderful! Let us tap our knees like a drum. d, d, d!

Here is a doctor. A doctor helps us when we are not well. Say doctor. Doctor! d, d, doctor.

And here is a dolphin, jumping out of the sea. Say dolphin. Dolphin! d, d, dolphin.

Can you tell me three things that begin with d? Duck, dog, drum. Yes! And doctor and dolphin too. You are so clever.

Now let us play a game. If the picture begins with d, clap your hands. Dolphin. Clap! Cake. No clap. Dice. Clap! Cow. No clap. Duck. Clap! Well done!

Now it is time to write the letter. We always write big D first, then small d.

Hold up your finger. Let us make big D in the air. Start at the top. Go straight down. Go back to the top. Now make a big curve round to the bottom. That is big D!

Now small d. Curve round like a little c. Go up tall, all the way to the top. Now come straight down. That is small d!

Let us do them both again. Big D: straight down, big curve round. Small d: round like a c, up tall, straight down. Well done!

When you trace in your book, go slowly and carefully. Big D first, then small d. Take your time.

Now we know four letters! A says a, a, a. B says b, b, b. C says c, c, c. And D says d, d, d.

Let us remember what we learned today. Duck, dog, drum, doctor and dolphin all start with d. The duck and the dog are playing the drum together.
