Revision Objectives

• Point to capital "B" and small "b" and say the sound /b/
• Name three things that begin with /b/: ball, boat, bus, butterfly, bananas
• Repeat the sentence "The butterfly is sitting on the bananas near the bus."
• Trace and write "Bb", capital first, then small
• Write "b" at the start of bird, boat and bear

Revision Activity 1: Bubble Pop

Time: 4 minutes

• Blow bubbles across the room
• Learners pop them and say /b/ at every pop

Revision Activity 2: Bounce and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and bounce a ball to each learner in turn
• When a learner catches the ball, they say a /b/ word from page 6: ball, boat, bus, butterfly or bananas
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 3: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 6 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Ask each learner to say three things that begin with /b/

Revision Activity 4: Butterfly Sentence

Time: 4 minutes

• Say "The butterfly is sitting on the bananas near the bus."
• Learners flap their arms like butterfly wings as they repeat it
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 5: Missing b

Time: 4 minutes

• Draw a bird, a boat and a bear on the board, with an empty box before "ird", "oat" and "ear"
• Learners take turns to say the word and write a small "b" in the box

Revision Activity 6: Air, Sand and Pencil Writing

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big "B" in the air: straight down, back to the top, small bump, big bump
• Draw a small "b" in the air: straight down, bounce up and round
• Trace "Bb" in a sand tray with a finger
• Write one row of "Bb" on a fresh writing sheet, capital first, then small
