Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet our very first letter. It is the letter A!

Look at the two letters. This tall one is big A. This round one is small a. Big A and small a are the same letter. Can you say it with me? A!

The letter A makes a sound. It says a, a, a. Open your mouth wide and say it with me. a, a, a. Very good!

Now look at the big picture. We are in the jungle. There is a big green alligator with a happy smile. Say alligator. Alligator! Alligator starts with a. a, a, alligator.

Who is sitting on the alligator's head? It is a little ant! Say ant. Ant! Ant starts with a too. a, a, ant.

Look up in the sky. What can you see? It is an aeroplane, flying over the trees. Say aeroplane. Aeroplane! The word aeroplane starts with the letter A.

Listen to our sentence. The alligator and the ant watch the aeroplane fly. Say it with me. The alligator and the ant watch the aeroplane fly. Wonderful!

Here is a big red apple. Say apple. Apple! a, a, apple.

And here is an arrow. It has a sharp point at one end. Say arrow. Arrow! a, a, arrow.

Can you tell me three things that begin with a? Ant, apple, alligator. Yes! And arrow too. You are so clever.

Now let us play a game. I will show you some pictures. If it begins with a, clap your hands. Alligator. Clap! Star. No clap. Apple. Clap! Tree. No clap. Well done!

Now it is time to write the letter. We always write big A first, then small a.

Hold up your finger. Let us make big A in the air. Start at the top. Slant down to the left. Go back to the top. Slant down to the right. Now draw a line across the middle. That is big A!

Now small a. Start at the top. Curve round like a little ball. Go back up to the top. Now go straight down. That is small a!

Let us do them both again. Big A: slant down, slant down, line across. Small a: round like a ball, back up, straight down. Well done!

When you trace in your book, go slowly and carefully. Big A first, then small a. Take your time.
