Video Script -- Lesson 13

Use of "It"

Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Leeds

Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn how to use the little word "it".

When we want to talk about an animal or a thing again and again, we use "it". We do not say the name again. We just say "it".

Let us read together. This is a stove. It is small in size. Here, "it" means the stove.

This is a sweeping brush. It is large in size. This is a squeegee. It is red in colour.

This is a butterfly. It has blue wings. This is a lioness. It has two cubs. This is a peacock. It flies in the air.

Did you see? First we say the name. Then we say "it". The stove, the sweeping brush and the squeegee are things. The butterfly, the lioness and the peacock are animals. We use "it" for things and animals.

Now it is your turn. Fill in the blank with "it". This is a fish. It swims in water. This is a penguin. It is found in cold regions. This is a hawk. It has sharp eyes.

This is a cat. It has blue eyes. This is a pomegranate. It keeps us healthy. This is a panther. It runs fast. Well done!

When "It" comes at the start of a sentence, we write it with a big capital I.

Let us quickly go over what we learned today. When we want to talk about an animal or a thing again and again, we use "it". This is a butterfly. It has blue wings.

Great job, everyone! Keep practising and see you next time!
