Subject: English | Class: Prep | Series: Leeds
Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we are going to learn about sight words.
Some words we read and write again and again. The words which you often read and write are called sight words. Words like this, is, a, I, and my are sight words. We see them in many sentences.
Let us read some sentences together. Say them after me.
Children like apples. This is a horse. I see a big frog. My toys are beautiful. I drink juice daily. There is a fish in water.
Well done! Did you see the little word "is"? It is in "This is a horse" and in "There is a fish in water." Did you see the word "I"? It is in "I see a big frog" and in "I drink juice daily." These are sight words.
Now let us fill in some blanks. Here are our words: edge, copy, ride, meet, forest. He stood on the edge of the cliff. Give me a copy of this book. I will ride my bike. It is nice to meet you both. The boy lost his way in the forest.
Now let us find the word that is spelled correctly. Look at the fish. Is it fish, dish, fishe or fist? It is fish, f, i, s, h. Look at the top. The right word is top, t, o, p. Look at the nest. The right word is nest, n, e, s, t. Look at the ball. The right word is ball, b, a, l, l. Look at the duck. The right word is duck, d, u, c, k.
Let us quickly go over what we learned today. Sight words are the words which we often read and write. We read six sentences, we filled in blanks, and we found the words that are spelled correctly.
