Formative Assessment

1. Sentence Reading (During Day 1)

• Task: Each child reads one or two sentences from page 23, such as "This is a horse." or "I see a big frog."
• Criteria:
  • Reads each word clearly
  • Points to the words while reading
• Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice

2. Word Box Check (During Day 2)

• Task: The teacher reads a sentence with a missing word. The child picks the right word card (edge, copy, ride, meet, forest).
• Criteria: Picks the right word for at least 3 out of 5 sentences
• Rating: All correct / Most correct / Needs support

3. Spelling Check (During Day 3)

• Task: Show a picture (fish, top, nest, ball, duck) and its four words. The child points to the word spelled correctly.
• Criteria: Correct word for at least 4 out of 5 pictures
• Rating: Excellent / Good / Needs Practice
