Hello children! Welcome to today's lesson. Today we will learn about verbs.

A verb shows action. An action is something we do. When you jump, jump is a verb. When you run, run is a verb.

Let us look at the pictures in our book. A girl can cook. A family can eat. A girl can read. A girl can write. Cook, eat, read and write are verbs.

Animals do actions too. A dog can bark. A horse can neigh. An elephant can amble. Amble means to walk slowly. A lion can roar. Bark, neigh, amble and roar are verbs.

Here are some more. Two boys fight. A baby can crawl. A boy can smile. A boy can run.

And some more. A girl can sing. A girl can ride a horse. A boy can paint. A boy can jump. Sing, ride, paint and jump are all verbs.

Let us play a game. Stand up! Can you jump? Jump! Can you smile? Smile! Can you run on the spot? Run! Well done. You are doing verbs!

Now look at these pictures. A boy is crying. The verb is cry. A girl is writing. The verb is write. A woman is cooking. The verb is cook. A boy is pouring water on himself. The verb is bathe. A boy is singing. The verb is sing. A boy is swimming. The verb is swim.

Let us remember. A verb shows action. Cook, eat, read, write, run, jump, sing and swim are all verbs.
