Video Script -- Lesson 27
Capital and Small Letters, Vowels and Consonants
Subject: English | Class: Playgroup | Series: Leeds
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Guess what? We have learned every letter, from A all the way to Z! Today we are going to look at all of them together.
Look at the top of the page. Here are the capital letters. Capital letters are the big letters. Let us say them together. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N. Now the next row. O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z. Wonderful!
Now look at the next part. Here are the small letters. Small letters are the little letters. Let us say them in a little voice. a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n. And the next row. o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z. Great job!
Every big letter has a little partner. Big A and small a. Big B and small b. Big C and small c. Some partners look the same, just bigger and smaller, like C and c, and O and o. Some partners look different, like A and a, and G and g. But they are still the same letter!
Now let us learn something new. The letters of the alphabet are in two groups. One group is called vowels. The other group is called consonants.
In English alphabet, there are 5 vowels and 21 consonants.
Look at the purple tiles. These are the vowels. A, E, I, O, U. Hold up one hand and count them on your fingers with me. A, one. E, two. I, three. O, four. U, five. There are five vowels!
When we say the vowels, our mouth is open. Open your mouth wide and say them with me. A. E. I. O. U. Very good!
Now look at the tiles at the bottom. These are the consonants. B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M. N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z. There are lots of consonants! All the letters that are not vowels are consonants.
Let us play a game. I say a letter. If it is a vowel, open your mouth wide. If it is a consonant, close your mouth. Ready? A! Open wide. B! Close. O! Open wide. M! Close. U! Open wide. You are so clever!
Let us remember what we learned today. Capital letters are the big letters. Small letters are the little letters. Every big letter has a little partner.
There are 5 vowels, A, E, I, O, U, and we say them with an open mouth. All the other letters are consonants.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep counting your five vowels. See you next time! Bye-bye!
