Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter y!

Look at this big red letter. Here is a big Y and a small y. Can you say it with me? y!

The letter y makes a sound. Give me a big smile and say y, y, y. Very good!

Now look at the picture. We are at the beach. Can you see the big white boat on the water? It is a yacht. Say yacht. Yacht! Yacht starts with y. y, y, yacht.

Who is standing on the sand? It is a yak! The yak is big and furry, with two white horns. Say yak. Yak! y, y, yak.

Look at the table. There is a pan with two eggs. The yellow middle of an egg is called the yolk. Say yolk. Yolk! y, y, yolk.

And here is an orange yo-yo on a string. It goes down and up, down and up. Say yo-yo. Yo-yo! y, y, yo-yo.

Let us say all our y words together. Yacht. Yak. Yolk. Yo-yo. Great job!

Now let us say the chant from the top of the page. Clap with me. y, y, yacht. y, y, yolk. y, y, yo-yo. Wonderful!

Here is one more line. Listen. y, y, yak lives on high land. Say it with me. y, y, yak lives on high land. Now reach up high, high, high!

Now it is time to trace the letter y. Hold up your finger. Let us draw a small y in the air.

Start at the top. Make a short slant down to the middle. Now go back to the top on the other side, and make a long slant all the way down, below the line. That is the tail. That is the letter y!

Let us do it again. Short slant. Long slant with a tail. y!

One more time, nice and slow. Well done!
