Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letters "X" and "x" and say the letter name
• Recall the words x-ray, xylophone, xbox and xmas tree
• Say the chant and the rhyme line "x / x / xmas tree has green branches"
• Trace "X" and "x" with the correct stroke

Revision Activity 1: Make an X

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners cross their arms over their chest to make an "X"
• Then they stand with arms and legs out wide to make a big "X"
• Each time, everyone says "x" together

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 26 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: x-ray, xylophone, xbox, xmas tree
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Chant Clap

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant from the letter box, clapping on each "x":
  • "x / x / x-ray"
  • "x / x / xylophone"
  • "x / x / xbox"
• Learners repeat in a loud voice, then a whisper
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 4: Green Branches

Time: 5 minutes

• Learners stand tall with arms out wide like branches
• Say "x / x / xmas tree has green branches" together
• Ask: "What colour are the branches?" Learners say "green"

Revision Activity 5: Air, Board and Pencil Tracing

Time: 8 minutes

• Draw a big "X" in the air together: one slanting line, then the other
• Let learners trace "X" with a finger on the board
• Trace one dotted row of "x" on a fresh sheet with a pencil
• Check that every learner starts each line at the top

Revision Activity 6: Find the x

Time: 2 minutes

• Write x, y and k large on the board
• Ask: "Which one is x?" Learners point and say "x"
