Exercise A: Circle the Letter r
Say "r" with your child. Ask your child to circle every R and r in the rows below.

Exercise B: Look and Say
Point to each picture in the textbook (page 20). Your child says the word. Tick the box when your child says it.

Exercise C: Match the Word to the Picture
Say each word aloud. Your child draws a line from the word to the correct picture.

Exercise D: Colour the Rose
Draw a big rose with a stem and leaves in the box. Your child colours the rose red and the stem and leaves green.

Ask: "What is this?" Your child says "rose".
Exercise E: Trace the Letter Rr
Big R: start at the top, go straight down, go back up, curve round to the middle, then make a leg. Small r: start in the middle, go straight down, go back up and make a little curve.

Print these rows in a dotted tracing font, with a red dot at the starting point of each letter.
Exercise F: Say the Chant
Say each line to your child. Your child repeats it.
"r / r / rabbit"
"r / r / rat"
"r / r / rocket"
"r / r / rose is the king of flowers"
Now ask:
- Which flower is the king of flowers? (the rose)
- Which animal is bigger, the rabbit or the rat? (the rabbit)
Exercise G: Big R or Small r?
Your child colours the big R letters red and the small r letters green.
