Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter P!

Look at this big red letter. This is big P. And next to it is small p. Big P and small p. Can you say it with me? P!

The letter p makes a sound. It says p, p, p. Put your hand in front of your mouth. Press your lips together and say p. Can you feel a little puff of air? p, p, p. Very good!

Now look at the picture. We are in a garden. The leaves are orange and red and yellow. They are falling from the trees.

Who is sitting on the branch? It is a big green parrot! Say parrot. Parrot! Parrot starts with p. p, p, parrot.

Who is this, sitting on the ground? It is a panda! The panda is black and white and it is holding a green stick. Munch, munch! Say panda. Panda! p, p, panda.

Look down at the bottom. Here is a peach. One half is cut open. Say peach. Peach! p, p, peach.

And here is a little peacock. Look at its tail. It has so many colours! Say peacock. Peacock!

Let us say our chant together. Clap with me. p, p, peach. p, p, panda. p, p, parrot. Wonderful!

Now listen to this line about the peacock. p, p, peacock is emperor of colours. That means the peacock has the most beautiful colours of all. Say it with me. p, p, peacock is emperor of colours. Spread your fingers wide like a peacock's tail. Great job!

Let us say all our p words together. Peach. Panda. Parrot. Peacock. Super!

Can you find the two birds on the page? Yes! The parrot and the peacock. You are so clever.

Now it is time to trace the letter P. Hold up your finger. Let us draw big P in the air.

Start at the top. Go straight down. Go back up to the top. Now curve round to the middle. That is big P!

Now small p. Start in the middle. Go straight down, down, below the line. Go back up and curve round. Small p!

Let us do it again, nice and slow. Down, back up, and round. Well done!

When you trace P on your sheet, always start at the red dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.

Let us remember what we learned today. The letter p says p, p, p.
