Video Script -- Lesson 15
Letter Oo
Subject: English | Class: Playgroup | Series: Leeds
Hello, little friends! Welcome to our English lesson. Today we are going to meet a new letter. It is the letter O!
Look at this big red letter. This is big O. And next to it is small o. Big O and small o. They are both round, like a ball. Can you say it with me? O!
The letter o makes a sound. It says o, o, o. Make your mouth round and say it with me. o, o, o. Very good!
Now look at the picture. We are at the seaside. There is blue water and there are tall palm trees.
Who is sitting in the wooden boat? It is a pink octopus! The octopus has big blue eyes. Say octopus. Octopus! Octopus starts with o. o, o, octopus.
Next to the boat is a long wooden oar. We use an oar to row a boat. Row, row, row! Say oar. Oar!
Look up high. There is a big round orange with a green leaf. It is round like the letter O. Say orange. Orange! o, o, orange.
And who is this? It is an ostrich! The ostrich has a long, long neck. Say ostrich. Ostrich!
Let us say our chant together. Clap with me. o, o, oar. o, o, orange. o, o, octopus. Wonderful!
Now listen to this line about the ostrich. o, o, ostrich has long skinny legs. Say it with me. o, o, ostrich has long skinny legs. Can you stand up tall like the ostrich? Walk on your tiptoes. Great job!
Let us say all our o words together. Oar. Orange. Octopus. Ostrich. Super!
Now I have a question for you. How many o's are in the word octopus? Two! How many o's in orange? One! You are so clever.
Now it is time to trace the letter O. Hold up your finger. Let us draw O in the air.
Start at the top. Curve round to the left, all the way round, and stop back at the top. That is big O!
Now let us make small o. It is the same, just smaller. Start at the top, go round, and close it. Small o!
Let us do it again, nice and slow. Start at the top. Round and round. Close it. Well done!
When you trace O on your sheet, always start at the red dot. Go slowly and carefully. Take your time.
Let us remember what we learned today. The letter o says o, o, o.
Oar starts with o. Orange starts with o. Octopus and ostrich start with o too.
o, o, ostrich has long skinny legs.
To make the letter O, we start at the top and go round like a ball.
You did a super job today, little friends! Keep saying o, o, o. See you next time! Bye-bye!
