Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "Nn" and say its sound /n/
• Recall the words nine, nut, nurse and nest
• Say the chant and the rhyme line "n / n / nest holds two eggs."
• Trace "n" with the correct stroke

Revision Activity 1: Count to Nine

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and hold up the number "9" card
• Clap nine times together, counting aloud
• Each learner holds the card, says "nine" and the sound /n/
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 16 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: nine, nut, nurse, nest
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Nose Chant

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant and touch your nose on each "n": "n / n / nine, n / n / nut, n / n / nurse"
• Learners say it in a loud voice, then a whisper, then a humming "nnn" voice
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 4: Two Eggs in the Nest

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the rhyme line: "n / n / nest holds two eggs."
• Learners cup their hands like a nest, hold up two fingers for the eggs and repeat the line
• Ask: "What sound does nest start with?" Learners say /n/

Revision Activity 5: Air and Sand Tracing

Time: 7 minutes

• Draw a big "N" in the air together: down, back up, slant down, straight up
• Draw a small "n" in the air: short line down, back up, one hump
• Let learners trace "n" with a finger in a sand tray
• Check that every learner starts at the top and makes one hump

Revision Activity 6: Kind Nurse

Time: 3 minutes

• Show the nurse on page 16 and say: "A nurse helps us at the hospital"
• Learners pretend to listen to a friend's heart like a nurse and say "nurse, /n/ /n/ nurse"
