Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "Mm" and say its sound /m/
• Recall the words mango, milk, mat and monkey
• Say the chant and the rhyme line "m / m / monkey hangs in the tree."
• Trace "m" with the correct stroke

Revision Activity 1: Mango Pass

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a real mango around
• When a learner holds the mango, they say "mango" and the sound /m/
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 15 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: mango, milk, mat, monkey
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Yummy Chant

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant and rub your tummy on each "m": "m / m / mango, m / m / milk, m / m / mat"
• Learners say it in a loud voice, then a whisper, then a humming "mmm" voice
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 4: Hanging Monkey

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the rhyme line: "m / m / monkey hangs in the tree."
• Learners hold one arm up high like the monkey on the branch and repeat the line
• Ask: "What sound does monkey start with?" Learners say /m/

Revision Activity 5: Air and Sand Tracing

Time: 7 minutes

• Draw a big "M" in the air together: down, up, slant down, slant up, down
• Draw a small "m" in the air: short line down, back up, hump, hump
• Let learners trace "m" with a finger in a sand tray
• Check that every learner starts at the top and makes two humps

Revision Activity 6: Sit on the Mat

Time: 3 minutes

• Put a small mat in the middle of the circle
• Each learner sits on the mat for a moment and says "mat, /m/ /m/ mat"
