Revision Objectives

• Recognise the letter "Jj" and say its sound /j/
• Recall the words jelly, juice, jacket and joker
• Say the chant and the rhyme line "j / j / joker gives you smiles."
• Trace "j" with the correct stroke and the dot on top

Revision Activity 1: Jacket Pass

Time: 5 minutes

• Sit in a circle and pass a real jacket around
• When a learner holds the jacket, they say "jacket" and the sound /j/
• Keep going until everyone has had a turn

Revision Activity 2: Point and Say

Time: 5 minutes

• Open page 12 or hold up picture cards
• Say a word and learners point to it: jelly, juice, jacket, joker
• Then swap: you point, learners say the word
• Clap once for every correct answer

Revision Activity 3: Jumping Chant

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the chant and jump on each "j": "j / j / jelly, j / j / juice, j / j / jacket"
• Learners say it in a loud voice, then a whisper, then a wobbly jelly voice
• Let two volunteers say it on their own

Revision Activity 4: Smiling Joker

Time: 5 minutes

• Say the rhyme line: "j / j / joker gives you smiles."
• Learners make the biggest smile they can and repeat the line
• Ask: "What sound does joker start with?" Learners say /j/

Revision Activity 5: Air and Sand Tracing

Time: 7 minutes

• Draw a big "J" in the air together: down, then curl round to the left
• Draw a small "j" in the air: down below the line, curl left, then a dot on top
• Let learners trace "j" with a finger in a sand tray and poke the dot
• Check that every learner starts at the top

Revision Activity 6: Wobbly Jelly

Time: 3 minutes

• Show the red jelly on page 12
• Learners wobble like a jelly and say "jelly, /j/ /j/ jelly"
• Then sip from a pretend glass and say "juice, /j/ /j/ juice"
